British Harry Potter Fans to Meet in Reading for Accio 2005

Harry Potter fans in Britain and all over the world will be getting together at the University of Reading for Accio 2005, the first Harry Potter conference in the UK. This new Harry Potter event will take place over the weekend of 29-31st July 2005, and is now open for registration.

According to the organizers, Accio 2005 will be a friendly event, bringing together academics and adult Harry Potter fans to discuss all aspects of J.K. Rowling’s Harry Potter books. Planned events include presentations, panels, speeches, games, a feast, and informal discussions into the small hours. All residential memberships will include all meals for the event, and non-residential membership will include everything apart from bed and breakfast.

Accio 2005 will be hosted at Reading University, which was established in 1892. It is a campus university, which means all the lectures, games and feasts will be within a few minutes walk of each other.

Reading is located only 16km from Windsor Castle, London is only 22 minutes away by train, and Bracknell, the original film location for 4 Privet Drive, is only 10 miles away.

Registration ranges in price from £140 to £215 ($250 to $385), and there is an early-bird discount if you register before Halloween, 2004. Details of conference rates including supporting membership and a registration form may be found on the Accio 2005 website.

More details about specific events and guest speakers will be coming as the event draws closer.
