Although we have been expecting that ABC would show the extra scenes from the Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone DVD as interstitial elements within the movie presentation on May 9, an article today on the Video Store Magazine Online web site quotes a Warner Bros. spokesperson as saying that the extra scenes have actually been edited into the movie, creating a new, never before seen Extended Edition of Sorcerer’s Stone.
The article says:
“Director Chris Columbus went back and added 20 minutes of footage to the actual [2001 Sorcerer’s Stone] movie,” said a Warner Bros. spokesperson. “It will be the first time the movie has been seen this way.”
This is the only article that we’ve seen in the past few weeks which has mentioned that the DVD extras have actually been edited back into the movie, as we believe they should have been in the first place. They do quote a Warner Bros. spokesperson as actually saying so, though, so we’d think this is likely true.
This is exciting news. Get those VCR’s ready for May 9!
