The following rumor was published this morning on the ic Wales web site:
Rumors Harry Potter star Daniel Radcliffe is coming to West Wales could prove to be true.
The teenage superstar has been officially called up to the Merlin, Magic and Mystery Festival this summer – to lead a procession of Potter lookalikes in a world record-breaking attempt.
Organisers hope the actor, who plays the starring role in the Harry Potter blockbusters, will come to Carmarthen.
The Guinness Book of Records will be invited to the judge the event, which only narrowly failed on a technicality last year.
Radcliffe’s London agents were unavailable for comment yesterday but council chiefs say they are awaiting a positive response.
Chamber of Commerce vice chair Pat Jones said, “It would be very fitting to have the actor who is recognised across the world as Harry Potter to lead a parade of lookalikes.
“We are awaiting his response and keeping our fingers crossed that he will be free.”
Festival chiefs are appealing to people from across the area to take part. They will be going into schools over the coming months to encourage young people to get involved.
The parade will form part of a festival being staged in Carmarthen from June 4 to 12.
However, this afternoon, fan web site DanRadcliffe.com, which is not his official website, but does seem to have connections with Daniel’s family, printed the following:
There is a rumour that Daniel will be attending a Merlin, Magic, and Mystical Festival in West Wales in June of 2004. I have received quite a few inquiries regarding this. Please be advised that Daniel will not be attending this event. He will be filming GOF and taking exams at that time and will not have time for other projects. This has been confirmed by the studio.
