It was rumored that Rosamund Pike was cast as Rita Skeeter in Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire back in April. It has been confirmed by Warner Bros. that Miranda Richardson will play Rita Skeeter; however, more information has surfaced about the Rosamund Pike rumor.
When Pike was interviewed by FTV recently (a fashion channel), she stated that she was offered the role as Rita Skeeter, but turned it down when she found out that her scenes in the movie would be minimal and that her contract would require her to be in the fifth movie as well.
“I just regret not doing the movie because I love Mike (Newell) and I owe him a favor; I don’t know who replaced me, but I wish her the best luck!”
This confirms rumors that Rita Skeeter will have minimal scenes in the fourth film. Thanks to Syaron for the information!
