British actor Ralph Fiennes has made it clear he isn’t a fan of the first two Harry Potter films, despite his role in the next instalment of the series.
Fiennes plays Lord Voldemort in the upcoming fourth movie, Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire, yet has no love for Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone and Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets.
He tells website EmpireOnline.co.uk, “I think the first two films were a little too saccharine and glib, even for Harry Potter fans.”
The actor has slammed the movies in the past and freely admits he didn’t read any of J.K. Rowling’s world-dominating books before taking the role.
However, it seems Fiennes is happy to reprise his role as Voldemort in the next Harry Potter movie, Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix, despite his distaste for the series, because he says it increases his popularity among his many nephews and nieces.
He says, “I have to confess I wasn’t very informed about the books before but now I have a lot of nieces and nephews who were very excited and came to visit the set.”
