Last Friday we reported the rumor that several fan websites were very sure that actress Miranda Richardson had been cast as Rita Skeeter in the film version of Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire, which has just recently started production.
Although there has still been no official confirmation of this from Warner Bros., an article published this morning on the ic Berkshire website proves the casting rumor was true with an on-set report confirmation.
In the article about a boy who came in from the rain and ended up winning the part as Neville’s double, the boy himself is quoted as being with Miranda Richardson on the set:
Thomas is already living most teenagers’ dreams. “I have a trailer were I can play around and was sat next to Miranda Richardson in make-up the other day” he said. The award winning actress is playing Daily Prophet journalist Rita Skeeter.
So, we’re now considering this casting information official.
Miranda Richardson has just completed the film version of the musical, The Phantom of the Opera. She’s been in many TV shows and movies, including Sleepy Hollow in 1999, which also starred Sir Michael Gambon. She currently lives in London.
