First Four Harry Potter Books to Get New Look

Bloomsbury Publishing is delighted to announce the publication of new Harry Potter editions aimed at the adult market.

On July 8th 2004, the first four Harry Potter titles will be reissued in striking new mass market formats for the growing adult readership. Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone, Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets, Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban and Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire will have covers in the style of the Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix adult hardback edition. When this was published by Bloomsbury in June 2003 it sold 172,256 copies in the first 24 hours, according to Nielsen BookScan, and has gone on to reach 10% of total sales.

A celebratory edition of Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban will also be published on May 3rd 2004.

Two other Harry Potter books, written by JK Rowling in 2001 for Comic Relief, Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them and Quidditch Through the Ages, will be relaunched, also on May 3rd, in a special school satchel design with a free Hogwarts School library bookplate. JK Rowling has actually written the books consulted by Harry while at Hogwarts. As Albus Dumbledore says in his introduction to Fantastic Beasts, this set textbook by Newt Scamander has given the perfect grounding to many a Hogwarts student. It will be helpful to all Muggles out there too. Quidditch through the Ages, a copy of the volume in the Hogwarts School library, contains everything you need to know about the game. Comic Relief will receive a 20% royalty for each pack sold. To date sales from the two books in all languages and territories have raised over $15.7 million for Comic Relief. Trade will receive their normal terms.

The Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban film is due for release on June 4 2004.
