Daniel Radcliffe Receives Drama Desk Best Actor Nomination

The nominations for the 2009 Drama Desk Awards were announced this morning at the New York Friars Club by Faith Prince and Jim Dale.

Harry Potter star Daniel Radcliffe was nominated for Outstanding Actor in a Play for his performance in Equus.

Equus also received two other nominations, David Hersey, for Outstanding Lighting Design in a Play, and Gregory Clarke, for Outstanding Sound Design.

The Drama Desk, an organization of professional theater critics, writers and editors, bestows awards with Broadway, off-Broadway and off-off-Broadway productions competing in the same categories.

The Drama Desk Awards ceremony will be held on May 17 at F.H. LaGuardia Concert Hall at Lincoln Center, hosted by Harvey Fierstein.
