Peter Jackson Collects Some BAFTA Souvenirs

Peter Jackson picked up more than just five gongs at Sunday’s star-studded BAFTA ceremony – he pocketed some valuable memorabilia as well.

The Lord of the Rings: Return of the King film-maker saw the opportunity to make more money from the fantasy franchise when he spied place mats depicting each of the five nominees in the Best Film category.

So after he and wife Fran Walsh won the gong over other contenders Cold Mountain, Master and Commander: The Far Side of the World, Lost in Translation and Big Fish, Jackson ensured all the Lord of the Rings mats were handed over to him too.

It is predicted that such items will become hugely collectible in the future, thanks to the popularity of the J.R.R. Tolkien-adapted trilogy.
